Recipe for Class 49 -
Chocolate Orange Marble Cake
Ingredients
200g (7 oz) self raising flour
175g (6 oz) butter (softened
175g (6 oz) caster sugar
3 medium eggs
Finely zested rind of one orange and 4 tablespoons
juice
100g bar plain chocolate (melted)
Method
Grease and line a 2lb loaf tin. Set oven to
325oF, 160oC, 150oC fan.
Put the flour into a bowl and add the butter, sugar, eggs,
orange zest and juice. Beat the mixture until smooth.
Spoon half the mixture into the prepared loaf tin and drizzle
over half of the melted chocolate. Spoon the rest of the
mixture on top then drizzle over the remaining chocolate. Use
a skewer or fine bladed knife to swirl the mixture.
Bake cake in the centre of the oven for approx. 65 minutes or
until it feels just firm to the touch and a skewer comes out
clean. Remove cake from oven and cool on wire tray.
