ROSES

Class

SWEET PEAS

Note: Fan shapes are an effective way of displaying Sweet Peas in vases

FLORAL ART

41 'Garden Bounty' - in a box - an exhibit using garden materials only in a space not exceeding 60cm wide, 60cm deep, 90cm high.  Staged on tabling 70cm high covered in white paper.

42 'A Dutch Painting' - an exhibit in a space not exceeding 100cm width, 100cm depth, 150cm height. Staged on tabling approx. 70cm high covered with white paper.

43 'Seascape' - a petite exhibit (not exceeding 25 cm height, width and depth).

44 'Canny' - an exhibit using an empty tin can

COOKERY

Recipe for Class 49 - Chocolate Orange Marble Cake

  Ingredients

200g (7 oz) self raising flour

175g (6 oz) butter (softened

175g (6 oz) caster sugar

3 medium eggs

Finely zested rind of one orange and 4 tablespoons juice

100g bar plain chocolate (melted) 

Method

Grease and line a 2lb loaf tin. Set oven to 325oF, 160oC, 150oC fan.

Put the flour into a bowl and add the butter, sugar, eggs, orange zest and juice.  Beat the mixture until smooth.

Spoon half the mixture into the prepared loaf tin and drizzle over half of the melted chocolate.  Spoon the rest of the mixture on top then drizzle over the remaining chocolate.  Use a skewer or fine bladed knife to swirl the mixture. 

Bake cake in the centre of the oven for approx. 65 minutes or until it feels just firm to the touch and a skewer comes out clean.  Remove cake from oven and cool on wire tray.
