Could you help in a local emergency?
The Parish council recently held a meeting to discuss ways in
which Brockham residents can deal with emergencies when the outside
organisations are unable to help. The recent flooding at Strood
Green and the snow are examples.
The mission statement is to help one another in critical
situations when no one else can.
The aim is to provide safe, volunteer support and expertise
within Brockham if emergency responders are unable to provide
assistance.
To achieve this, initially we need to collate a list of
residents who have the necessary skills to help in these
situations.
With this in mind we are asking the following questions
-
Who do we have ?
What do we have ?
How do we access the skills and equipment ?
Where is it ?
Who can use it ?
How do we control and communicate ?
Can we work with the emergency responders ?
Brockham is rich in people who have the necessary skills and
equipment to help. What we need now is for you to let us have your
names and relevant skills so that we can put this list together. At
this stage you are not committed to anything and there is always
the possibility that you may never be called upon but it could be
you who needs help from potential flooding.
In the first instance please let Celia Plumb know if you can
help. Her number is 843471.
Thank you for your help.
