End of an era or a new beginning?
Dorking Judo Club serves families in Brockham, Betchworth and Buckland, as well as the communities of Dorking and surrounding villages. The Club meets twice a week at the Rugby Club in Brockham and provides judo training and practice for children, young people and adults. Judo is very much a family sport for fitness, friendship and fun.
Richard and Jillian Anderson set up and have run Dorking Judo Club for over 20 years. As well as teaching judo and self-defence, they are members of the Committee, administer the Club, and organise grading sessions, competitions and social events. Despite moving to West Sussex they continue to coach judo sessions twice a week.
Richard and Jillian are retiring as senior coaches at the Club. They have decided to hand over to the Committee and take a well earned rest. We are organising leaving gifts and a presentation for the Games Evening in December. If anyone reading this article would like to make a contribution please contact Paul or Clare Ritchie.
We are preparing a bound book of photographs as one of the gifts. For this we would like to include pictures of the many past and present members of Dorking Judo Club. It would be lovely to have some photos of Club members and their families in a non-judo environment. If you are a current or past member please email us your digital images.
The Games Evening is on Thursday 11th December 2008 at 6pm in the Rugby Club by the Big Field. Richard and Jillian have committed so much time, energy and enthusiasm to the Dorking Judo Club and all its members over the years that we want to show our appreciation at this event. We hope to see as many children and parents as possible.
