STROOD GREEN SHOP CELEBRATES ITS FIRST BIRTHDAY!
THE SHOP AT STROOD GREEN CELEBRATES ITS FIRST BIRTHDAY!
Mole Valley's only community-run shop, The Shop at Strood Green,
celebrated its first birthday last weekend. The shop, which was
refurbished and fitted out with funds raised by a group of
villagers in Strood Green after the previous shop closed down, has
been running successfully since it opened on 21 March 2009. The
shop is managed by a committee of volunteers and part of the
funding came from the sale of shares to 450 local residents.
In addition to regular convenience goods The Shop at Strood
Green runs a small bakery, café and public internet facilities,
plus its own Post Point which offers postal facilities such as
parcel post and special delivery.
Cake, chocolates, balloons and canvas bags were given away to
customers as part of the birthday celebrations.
